In 2019 I created a powerful motion tracked graphics system for iPhone called FieldAR using ARKit and Unity.
As used by Al Roker (Today Show), Steve Kornacki and Stephanie Rhule (MSNBC).
It allowed NBC journalists to take graphics from the Newsroom and project them onto surfaces, trigger animations and film the result.
Journalists from across NBC used it and when the pandemic confined TV weather legend Al Roker to his house, we modified the system
to allow him and his producer to project weather maps into his back garden.
The idea was to provide reporters an alternative to more complex systems like Ncam that require specialist equipment and training.
FieldAR involved designing a robust backend system that allowed a pipeline from the Newsroom to the field.
